Armored Fiber Optic cable capable of withstanding tensile stresses during installation.
Manchester, NH April, 2009 - Hitachi Cable America (HCA), a leading manufacturer of fiber optic cables for the communications industry, recently announced the availability of its Armored Fiber Optic Cable suitable for any mission-critical commercial application that is dependent upon superior transmission of information. Armored Fiber Optic Cable is also appropriate for use in industrial areas or open areas where exposure to trades people or equipment is possible.
"Environments that depend upon the consistent and reliable delivery of data where downtime is unacceptable, such as with financial institutions, would benefit from the design characteristics of the Indoor Armored Fiber Optic Cable," explains Steve Kenney, Marketing Manager at Hitachi Cable America. "The reliability of the Indoor Armored Fiber Optic Cable, and that it is available in both singlemode and 10 gigabit multimode, make it a very desirable product."
The construction of the Armored Fiber Optic Cable consists of aluminum interlock armor over the fiber optic cable core (which includes Corning's optical glass), and provides exceptional protection during installation. Hitachi then applies a colored thermoplastic outer jacket over the armor layer of the Armored Fiber Optic Cable for both added protection, and for labeling purposes. This assists installers and technicians in identifying the appropriate cable during installation and repair.
Overview of Armored Fiber Optic Cable features:
- Buffered Glass has Jacket that is Ready for Connectors
- Armored Fiber Optic Cable Manufactured Using Only Corning Optical Glass
- Spiral Wrapped Armor Protects Against Damage During Installation and Contact with Other Cables
- Armored Fiber Optic Cable Serves as a Replacement for Fiber in Corrugated Innerduct Pipes. This is Advantageous Especially, in Critical Areas Where the Cable May be Exposed
