Hitachi Cable America Inc. – The First to Receive Dual-rated Low-Smoke Halogen Free - Riser listing from UL
Manchester, New Hampshire, USA, September 24, 2015
Hitachi Cable America Inc. (HCA) recently received the very first low-smoke halogen free (LSHF) dual-rated listing for its NanoCore™ multiunit family of fiber optic cables. Provided by UL, the listing identifies the cables as both low-smoke zero-halogen and riser-rated. The new listing will allow the cables to be installed in any riser environment as defined by the U.S. National Electrical Code while also providing the halogen-free characteristics that many owners desire in their cable infrastructure. Products utilizing halogen-free materials are considered more environmentally friendly than those that do not. Lynne Humenik, President and CEO of Hitachi Cable America said, “Once again our engineering department has overcome a number of development hurdles to produce a next-generation product of exceptional quality. Not only is this product a truly greener alternative to other cables, it was achieved while maintaining the high performance levels of the NanoCore™ product line ” Steve Galan of UL added, “We are pleased to see a key manufacturer of fiber optic cables taking the lead with the release of products in the new LSHF listing category. It’s a category in which we expect to see significant growth.” The new LSHF listed cables are manufactured at HCA’s Manchester, New Hampshire, USA facility and are available with both singlemode and multimode fiber optic glass.
