Hitachi Metals Ltd. in Cooperation with Hitachi Cable America Inc. Demonstrates 112G PAM4 Cable Technology at DesignCon 2018
January 23, 2018
Hitachi Metals, Ltd., a world leader in high-performance materials and their subsidiary Hitachi Cable America Inc., will showcase 56G and 112G PAM4 high-speed data connectivity solutions at Hitachi Cable America booth #403 at DesignCon 2018 in Santa Clara, CA, January 31 - February 1, 2018. Hitachi Metals is a division of Hitachi, Ltd.
“With the QSFP-DD and OSFP interfaces becoming reality, 200Gbps and 400Gbps copper interconnect solutions are more near-term than many think. Come see the future”, said Joe Iamartino, vice president of technology and business development, Hitachi Cable America.
At DesignCon 2018, Hitachi Metals will host three demonstrations:
- 112G PAM4 demonstration of multi-lane jumper assemblies for inside-the-chassis applications. This assembly using 34AWG fine wire and low height connectors can be mounted very close to LSI, even below a heat sink, and was designed as a lower-loss interconnect solution when compared to PCB signal traces on a mother board. In collaboration with I-PEX Connectors (a business unit of Dai-ichi Seiko Co., Ltd.), this assembly showcases their precision of tooling low-height narrow-pitch connectors, and Hitachi Metals’ fine wire cabling capability.
- 56G PAM4 demonstration of Quad Small Form Factor Pluggable Double Density (QSFP-DD) Direct Attach Cable assemblies for high density 200Gbps and 400Gbps applications
- 25G NRZ demonstration of Quad Small Form Factor (QSFP) Extended Reach LinearAccel – Active Copper solutions that deliver longer lengths compared with our passive copper Direct Attach Cable assemblies.
A variety of next-generation QSFP-DD and Octal Small Form Factor Pluggable (OSFP) designs for 200G and 400G applications will also be displayed.
All of the demonstrations and products above are powered by Hitachi Metals’ OMNIBIT® twin-ax cables. OMNIBIT® delivers lower dielectric performance variation and higher electromagnetic coupling resulting in longer transmission distances and more consistent performance compared to our conventional twin-ax cables.
For more information about these new platforms, as well as the QSFP28 and SFP28 Direct Attach Cable assembly products in volume production, please contact Hitachi Cable America at https://www.hca.hitachi-cable.com.
