MEDICAL TUBING EXTRUSION

Custom Medical Extrusions Built for Performance

Custom Extrusions for Medical Device Applications

Proterial Cable America High Performance Medical Solutions (PCA-HPMS) delivers highly customizable medical tubing extrusion solutions engineered for the precise demands of modern medical device applications. Whether the goal is enhanced flexibility, durability, or dimensional precision, we develop tailored medical extrusions that align with the performance needs of each specific application.

Medical Extrusion and Value-Add Capabilities

We supply medical device manufacturers with single-lumen and multi-lumen solutions, reinforced tubing for added durability, core mandrel options, advanced processing techniques, and secondary operations to ensure every extruded tubing product meets the highest industry standards.

Rapid Prototyping

At PCA-HPMS, customers are actively involved throughout the development process. With our Innovation Hub and onsite R&D lab, we offer rapid prototyping services where customers, engineers, and technical experts can collaborate in real time to make adjustments, explore alternate compounds, and produce take-home samples. Our in-house tooling shop also enables custom tooling on demand, reducing costs and lead times by eliminating the need for third-party suppliers.

High-Performance and Engineered Materials

HPMS provides custom medical extrusions using a broad range of high-performance materials. Our extrusion processes ensure tight tolerances, consistent dimensions, and high-performance characteristics tailored to each use case. Each material is selected for its unique properties and suitability for medical applications.

Common Materials Include:

Multi-Lumen Extrusion Capabilities

We manufacture multi-lumen extrusion with precise inner and outer diameters. We offer up to 24 lumens per tube and up to three layers. Our multi-lumen extrusion supports both simple designs and complex configurations. Available in a variety of materials, it can feature up to three taper transitions.

Features & Benefits

High-Pressure Braided Tubing Capabilities

Our high-pressure braided tubing, or reinforced tubing, enhances the strength, kink resistance, torque, and precise fluid management of an extruded tube while preserving flexibility and structural integrity. Using advanced braiding technology, we ensure durability under pressure without sacrificing the pliability required for intricate medical procedures.

Our expertise and reinforcement techniques allow us to deliver tubing with highly consistent dimensions, excellent tensile strength, and resistance to pressure-related deformation. Through high-performance materials and customized braiding configurations, we deliver solutions tailored to meet specific medical device requirements.

Our braided tubing injection lines are engineered for fluid delivery under controlled pressure. Reinforced for strength and kink resistance, they enable consistent fluid flow and precise injection performance during medical procedures.

  • Uniform reinforcement for high-pressure fluid applications.
  • Superior flexibility without compromising structural integrity.
  • Custom material selection based on application requirements.
  • Reinforced designs with stainless steel or polymer braiding to enhance durability and maintain lumen integrity under high pressures.
  • Kinkresistant and flexible, reliable in catheter-based and minimally invasive procedures.
  • High burst pressure (up to 1800PSI) resistance, ensuring safe and consistent fluid delivery.
  • Customizable inner and outer diameters to meet exact specifications for specialized applications.
  • Multi-layer construction options for added strength, chemical resistance, and tailored mechanical properties.

Core Mandrel Capabilities

At PCA-HPMS, we manufacture precision core mandrels used as internal supports during the construction of braid- or coil-reinforced catheter tubing. These mandrels preserve the tubing’s inner diameter and structural integrity during reinforcement and extrusion processes. Because we produce mandrels in-house, we maintain strict control over dimensional accuracy and surface finish, ensuring consistent performance, tight tolerances, and compatibility with complex catheter designs. Our core mandrels are customizable to meet a wide variety of medical extrusion requirements, making them ideal for high-performance, minimally invasive devices.

Features & Benefits

Bump/Taper Capabilities

PCA-HPMS provides consistent, high precision, customizable bump tubing for specific medical applications. We can fine-tune diameters while maintaining structural integrity and ensure precise control over wall thickness and transitions. Additionally, our bump tubing maintains the same high level of accuracy for multi-lumen configurations and across high-volume production.

Features & Benefits

Extensive Metrology

PCA-HPMS’s extensive metrology capabilities ensure that our high-performance medical extrusions are reliable, consistent, and durable. Every product, from single-lumen tubing to complex multi-lumen or bump configurations, is held to exacting standards for dimensional accuracy and performance. Our real-time monitoring during production holds extrusions to precise specifications, while detailed post-production inspections verify accuracy, so customers can trust that their components are exactly what they need.
