Outdoor Cat5e Cable

Proterial Cable America’s robust Category 5e Outdoor Cables are designed to offer reliable performance regardless of the conditions in which they were installed.

These Cat5e Cables have tough polyethylene outer jackets with carbon black to protect the cable core from water and the harsh sun. A gel-filled inner core prevents the migration of any water that may have breached the outer layers of protection.

Whether used in lashed aerials, ducts, or underground conduits, these data cables meet high technical performance reliability standards. They are designed to deliver Gigabit speeds as well as power to outdoor Power over Ethernet (PoE) devices.

When should I choose outdoor Cat5e cable?

Choose Cat5e as your cable type when you need a dependable, powered Ethernet link to outdoor devices or between buildings with a straightforward plan. It delivers power and data on one line, uses a UV-resistant jacket and gel core for weather protection in buried or duct paths, and offers solid Gigabit performance with easy install/maintenance value.

If your route is very long or you expect much higher future bandwidth, fiber is a good cable to consider instead.

How does Proterial’s Outdoor Cat5e stand out?

Our Outdoor Cat5e Cable is made in the USA with repeatable cable quality trusted across the industry, it pairs a UV-resistant jacket with a water-blocking gel core and supports PoE up to 100 W. Compact reels with reverse sequential footage simplify on-site verifying, and spec-friendly materials (RoHS 3, 24-AWG bare copper) make it straightforward for business teams to buy and document.

Will this Outdoor Cat5e Cable reliably power outdoor PoE devices (e.g., cameras, APs)?

Yes—PoE classes up to 100W are supported for outdoor network endpoints, such as cameras, when installed within specifications.

Are these Cat5e cables UTP or shielded, and what does that mean on-site?

It’s UTP. There’s no overall shield to bond to ground, so you should mind separation from noise sources to limit EMI during the run.

How does this Cat5e PoE cable withstand water and sun over the long term?

A gel-filled core mitigates ingress from rain or snow, and the black jacket’s sheathing is UV-resistant for prolonged sunlight exposure.
