Proterial / Cable Solutions / Category 6 XS™
The XS™ cable is Proterial Cable America’s entry-level category 6 cable. The XS™ cable is UL-verified, sweep-tested to 555 MHz, and delivers electrical performance that exceeds the ANSI/TIA-568.2-E standard.
Like all of Proterial Cable America’s indoor category 6 cables, the XS™ cable is eligible for our lifetime product and performance warranty when installed by a Proterial Certified Installer. The XS™ is available in a wide range of colors.

“XS” means extra-slim/streamlined. This is Proterial Cable America’s new entry-level performance category 6 cable. Its fillerless design means a full center spline typically found in conventional Category 6 cables is not required, while still meeting or exceeding all ANSI/TIA-568.2-E electrical requirements for a Cat6 CMP cable. The small outside diameter of this fillerless design allows for higher conduit fill rates and faster pulls, improving the overall installer experience.
The category 6 XS™ cable is rated for speeds up to 5 Gbps over standard 4-pair UTP runs, covering the most popular IEEE Ethernet applications. For 10GBASE-T at full 100-meter channel lengths, we recommend our category 6A cable family. However, 10GbE may be achievable over shorter runs (typically under 121 feet) depending on channel conditions. Consult our technical team for your specific application.
The XS CMP version has the NEC Communications Multipurpose Plenum rating. It uses a fluoropolymer primary insulation and a flame-retardant thermoplastic jacket, making it suitable for air-handling spaces such as drop ceilings and raised floors where fire code requires a distinction for CMP and CMR cables. The riser version carries a CMR rating, uses a polyolefin insulation, and is designed for vertical runs between floors where a plenum rating is not required. Always verify with your local building code which rating is needed before installation.
No. The XS™ is an unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cable with no foil or braid shield. It is best suited for typical commercial environments with standard levels of electromagnetic interference. For high-EMI environments like industrial facilities, near heavy machinery, or medical imaging rooms, a shielded category 6 or 6A cable would be more appropriate.
