Proterial » Webinar Series Highlights How PCA Supports Our Team
Whether preparing for the future with estate planning, learning how to balance work and family life or just personal counseling, Proterial Cable America (PCA) is there for our employees.
The latest example of our commitment to our team is a webinar series: “Work, Life, and Family”. The webinars emphasize the company’s goal of helping our team grow at work, but at home too.
“People are dealing with a lot outside of work,” says Alisha Martin, HR Manager for HPMS. “It’s great to have assistance.”
Beginning in July, New York Life began presenting monthly webinars offering employees presentations that cover a wide variety of subjects that affect their lives. The events are available to our High-Performance Medical Solutions and Defense teams in Rhode Island, our Cable Solutions team in New Hampshire and our Automotive Products team in Indiana.
The first presentation was about parental burnout, examining signs and risk factors and providing strategies to thrive in parenthood. The presentation held in August covered the challenges a difficult childhood can have on adulthood.
“It’s a good opportunity for our coworkers to take some time for themselves and manage things that they’re dealing with,” Martin says.
Remaining webinars through the end of the year will address different topics each month including the challenges of parenting and the basics of estate planning.
Martin says she’s run similar programs at other companies in the past. When she started at PCA last October, she started working to bring the concept to PCA. The goal wasn’t just to get the webinar series up and running, but to raise awareness of all of the benefits offered by PCA.
“We offer a lot of free benefits people aren’t aware of,” she says. “We’ve been trying to get the word out to the team. We offer the webinars, hang flyers and anything else we can think of.”
Martin coordinated with our Benefits Manager, HR Team, and PCA’s insurance providers and New York Life agreed to present the speakers for PCA employees. So far Martin says, so good.
“We’ve had a good turnout, but we still want to increase it.”

Proterial HPMS is dedicated to enhancing employee well-being, both at work and at home. To better understand how we can support our team members, a wellness survey was recently conducted. The survey aimed to identify ways to make our workforce happier and healthier.
After getting dozens of responses, Martin says they have based new programs around the results including yoga classes—which she is quick to note, can be used however attendees want.
“We told people, no one is judging, you can just come and lay down if you want,” she says.
In addition to the health insurance, 401K program and other paid benefits, PCA offers our employees multiple free advantages to take advantage of.
Martin says we offer five coaching sessions per year from a certified coach that can help with stress and burnout among other topics ranging from work to homelife.
“You have access to three face to face sessions of counseling and five well-being coaching sessions,” Martin says.
Martin says employees logically come to her with problems, and she feels for them, but she is not a counselor.
“I’m always here to listen, but I’m not a licensed therapist,” she says. “Looking for one can feel like a job in of itself, so the Employee Assistance Program is really helpful.”
Proterial Cable America is always looking for people to come join our team. Apply today to work in our Manchester, New Hampshire location or our Ashaway, Rhode Island Facility. Contact us to learn more about PCA or to inquire about any job openings we have available.
